Our Preschool:

Little Lambs Lutheran Preschool is designed to provide an educational setting in a Christian atmosphere. A Christian attitude extends beyond a designated "Jesus Time" into all areas of the curriculum.

Benefits of Preschool:

For more than four decades, researchers of early childhood education have been finding that quality preschool programs have an impact not just on kindergarten readiness, but on participants’ learning and success in later life. The studies are very clear, says W. Steven Barnett, director of the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER), an early childhood education research organization based at Rutgers University. Good preschool programs have a very large and long-term positive impact.

Preschool provides the opportunity for a child to interact with other children. Interacting with other children means learning how to wait, how to take turns, and how to listen. Young children learn social skills when they interact with other children. These social skills are critical to a developing personality.

There are other advantages to preschools -- primarily that preschool activities provide the foundations for academic learning. An effective preschool program capitalizes on a time when children’s brains are rapidly developing, laying a foundation of social skills, knowledge and self confidence that paves the way for success in kindergarten and beyond.

In preschool your child will listen to poetry and songs -- building blocks needed to grasp phonics and reading skills at a developmentally appropriate time. The play that takes place with water, sand, and containers form the foundation for understanding basic math concepts. Matching, sequencing, one-to-one correspondence are all activities that are done over and over in preschool and help children get ready to learn academics.

Class Times:

For the 2008/09 school year, Little Lambs Lutheran Preschool offers two classes.

The 3 year old class meets Tuesday/Thursday from 8:30-11:00 am. Preschoolers must be 3 years old by August 1 to enroll in the 3 year old class.

The 4 year old class meets Mondays/Wednesday/Friday from 8:30-11:00 am. Preschoolers must be 4 years old by August 1 to enroll in the 4 year old class.

The school's schedule corresponds with the Warren County R-III public school schedule with the following exception. If the public school teacher's meetings and the Missouri District Lutheran teacher's meetings do not coincide, Little Lambs will meet during the public school meetings and be off during the Lutheran teacher's meetings. Parents will be informed of these dates well in advance.
